The kindergarten class of 1938 from Sadler Elementary School in Alameda, California, has been recognized by the Guinness World Records (GWR) for demonstrating the true meaning of “friendship till the end” by holding consecutive class reunions for 83 years.

The remarkable story of this enduring bond has captured the attention of people around the world, highlighting the power of lifelong friendships.

According to the GWR, the kindergarten class of 1938 from Sadler Elementary School has been awarded the title of “longest running class reunion.” Porter Davis, one of the classmates, shared that there were originally 27 students in their kindergarten class. In the first reunions, around 10 to 15 classmates attended.

Davis stated, “There were eight classmates who really kept in touch every year and attended almost all of our class reunions.” Over the years, more of their classmates began joining the reunions to catch up on each other’s lives.

Porter believes that their enduring tradition of gathering together showcases how people can adapt their habits and maintain the need for social connections.

Despite the changing venues for their reunions over the years, the latter expressed his joy in witnessing the transformations and milestones of his classmates, including marriages, divorces, children, grandchildren, and the successes and failures they have experienced.

While Davis hopes to continue the reunions, he acknowledged that the group, now in their 90s, has encountered health challenges, including the passing of one classmate and illnesses affecting two others.
