NBI spokesperson, Atty. Gisele Garcia-Dumlao, stated that the US Homeland Security had apprehended a US national in possession of sexually explicit materials, some of which were traced back to the Philippines.

“Ginagamit niya ang kanyang 10-year-old na pamangkin sa isang live online na show. So agad nating hinuli itong suspek,” said Garcia-Dumlao.

The suspect is facing charges under the Anti-Human Trafficking Act and Child Abuse in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act. The parents of the victim are also set to be charged as the NBI believes they were aware of the suspect’s activities.

The NBI reminds everyone not to be afraid or ashamed to approach parents or persons in authority, such as teachers or barangay officials, if there are signs of abuse or inappropriate demands being made.

This unfortunate incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that lurk in the digital realm and the urgency to protect our children from online exploitation. It highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and international cooperation to combat such heinous crimes.
