HOW MANY REGIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES – You can check the list below for all the regions in the country and the provinces under them.

Several regions divide the Philippines. If you will ask how many regions are there in the Philippines, there is a total of 17 regions in the country. Each of them are composed of provinces that are further divided among the cities and municipalities.

The Philippines is composed of 16 regions. Each of these regions is composed of several provinces which are further composed by several cities and municipalities. The regions have different geographical locations thus may also differ in certain factors such as the best produce.

Region 1 (Ilocos)

The Ilocos region encompasses the northwestern coast of Luzon, the biggest among the three (3) main regions in the country. It is composed of the following provinces.

  • Batac City
  • Laoag City
  • Candon City
  • Vigan City
  • San Fernando City
  • Alaminos City
  • Dagupan City
  • San Carlos City
  • Urdaneta City

Region 2 (Cagayan Valley)

The Cagayan Valley is a region found in the northeastern part of Luzon. It is composed of the following provinces:

  • Tuguegarao City
  • Cauayan City
  • Ilagan City
  • Santiago City

Region 3 (Central Luzon)

The Central Luzon is an administrative region in the Philippines which is found in the central plains of Luzon.

  • Bataan

Region IV-A (CALABARZON)

This region is also called as the Southern Tagalog. It is composed of the following provinces:

Region IV-B (MIMAROPA)

Also called as the southwestern Tagalog region, the Region IV-B also has no land border. It is composed of the following provinces:

  • Occidental Mindoro

  • Romblon

Region V – Bicol

The Bicol region is located in the Southern part of Luzon and it is composed of the following provinces:

  • Albay

Region VI – Western Visayas

The Western Visayas is an administrative region in the country with four (4) Visayan languages — Hiligaynon, Aklanon, Kinaray-a, and Capiznon.

Region VII – Central Visayas

The Region VII or Central Visayas is composed of four (4) provinces and it is located in the eastern part of Negros.

Region VIII – Eastern Visayas

This region is consists of three (3) main islands — Samar, Leyte, and Biliran. Here are the provinces under this region:

Region IX – Zamboanga Peninsula

This region was previously known as the Western Mindanao before it was renamed to Zamboanga Peninsula. It consists the following provinces:

Region X – Northern Mindanao

This region is consist of five (5) provinces such as the following:

  • Bukidnon

Region XI – Davao

This region is formerly called the Southern Mindanao and it is located in the southeastern part of Mindanao. It is composed of the following provinces:

  • Davao del Sur

Region XII – SOCCSKSARGEN

This region is formerly called the Central Mindanao. It is located in the south-central Mindanao.

Region XIII – CARAGA

Officially called the Caraga Administrative Region, it is located in the northeastern section of Mindanao. It is composed of the following provinces:

National Capital Region (NCR)

Also called as the Metropolitan Manila, it is where the seat of government of the Philippines lies.

BARMM – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao

This region is located in the southwestern portion of the Mindanao island. Here are the provinces in this region:
