Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Surigao del Norte, July 1, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.5 magnitude quake in Surigao del Norte today, Saturday, July 1, 2023.
Following the 4.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Sulu a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Surigao del Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.5.
The quake that struck Surigao del Norte, today, Saturday, July 1, 2023, was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Burgos.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao del Norte was located at 10.39°North, 127.12°East – 121 km North 70° East of Burgos. It had a depth of focus of 015 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording bureau, no intensity was felt nor recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas as of this writing. Furthermore, no instrumental intensity was logged in the bulletin released by the agency.
