Drug Suspect Who Tried to Escape Buy-Bust Operation Gets Into Accident
A drug suspect gets into a road accident on NLEX while attempting to escape the cops during a drug buy-bust operation.
An accident occurred when a suspect attempted to flee from a drug buy-bust operation in Valenzuela City on Tuesday evening. The 37-year-old suspect was apprehended, and suspected marijuana with a street value of over P3 million was seized.
The rear portion of the SUV, which the suspect was driving, was damaged after the accident on the southbound lane of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) within Valenzuela City. The vehicle collided with two other cars.
“Sinubukan po nitong tumakas at ‘yan nagresulta nga po sa aksidente po na kung saan nasira po ‘yung sasakyan nung ating suspect,” said Police Brigadier General Kirby John Kraft, the head of the Southern Police District (SPD).
Around 30 kilograms of alleged marijuana, wrapped in plastic and sacks, were confiscated from the suspect. In addition to the drugs, a loaded firearm was also recovered from the suspect.
According to the police, the suspect came from Benguet, and they are currently investigating the source of the drugs.
The suspect claimed to be unaware that he was transporting marijuana. He stated, “I was just told to bring the vehicle here, that’s all. When I arrived, someone suddenly appeared and pointed a gun at me, so I reversed.”
The suspect was taken to the SPD headquarters and will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
