Cristy Fermin shared her thoughts on the partnership between It’s Showtime and GTV
Veteran showbiz writer Cristy Fermin thinks that GMA is just waiting for the expiration of its contract with TAPE Inc. and would let It’s Showtime occupy the Kapuso noontime slot.
Transferring and exchanging deals have been the trend these past few months in the entertainment industry. The Kapamilya noontime show will be shown on GTV, a network also owned by GMA, starting July 1 while the main channel is still airing the new Eat Bulaga with a new set of hosts following TVJ’s decision to depart from the production company owned by Romy Jalosjos.
TAPE is now being managed by Romy’s children following the rumored forced retirement of former CEO and President Tony Tuviera who is close to Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon.
When TV5 prioritized TVJ for its noontime slot, It’s Showtime was adopted by GTV. Based on the article in NewsKo, Cristy Fermin shared her thoughts. It was said that many people think that GMA did a wise move in striking a deal with the Kapamilya show while the Kapuso network is still airing TAPE’s Eat Bulaga.
Cristy said that it seemed like GMA will just wait to end its contract with TAPE in 2024. The said existing contract was cited by the Kapuso network in its official statement about TVJ’s departure.
“Ang laman ng lahat, tatapusin na lang ng GMA-7 ang kontrata ng TAPE, Inc. at pagkatapos ay bibitawan na sila,” Cristy said. The veteran showbiz writer also said that TAPE might have thought that TVJ is its enemy but this is not the case.
“Inisip kaya ng pamilya Jalosjos na hindi naman pala ‘Eat Bulaga’ ng Tito, Vic and Joey ang kalaban nila? Ang kalaban pala nila, parang inside job, nasa loob pala! Nasaan ‘yung pinoprotektahan ng GMA ‘yung TAPE? Wala na!” she said.
