Delivery Rider Earns Praises for Rescuing & Adopting Stray Dog
A heartwarming incident involving a delivery rider has touched the hearts of many after it was shared by Jhed Reiman Laparan, a 28-year-old resident of San Juan City in Manila. The post highlighted a delivery rider who had taken in and carried a lost dog that was supposedly abandoned by its previous owners.
Laparan, an Angkas rider, shared the story of how he came across a Food Panda rider with a dog named Whiskey in tow while waiting for a booking. He recounted the encounter under a tree along F. Blumentritt in San Juan, where he was patiently waiting for an Angkas request around 2 pm.
It was there that he noticed the Food Panda rider walking with a dog.
“Nakaduty ako niyang time na ‘yan, nakahinto ako sa ilalim ng puno ng kahabahan ng F. Blumentritt, San Juan. Naghihintay po ako ng booking kay Angkas around 2 pm. Nakita ko ‘yang si kuya Food Panda [rider], naglalakad siya dala-dala ‘yung aso,” Laparan said.
Impressed by the kind act of the Food Panda rider towards the dog, Laparan decided to share the story on a Facebook group called “DOG LOVERS PHILIPPINES.”
According to Laparan’s post, the Food Panda rider had shared with him that he had witnessed a child walking the dog under the scorching heat. When asked why the child was doing so, the child allegedly responded that they were simply instructed by the dog’s owner to abandon it.
The Food Panda rider expressed his dismay and compassionately exclaimed, “Sabi naman ni kuyang foodpanda, ‘Nako bakit niyo ililigaw ‘yan, may buhay din naman ‘yan. Akin nalang iuuwi ko’,” Laparan recalled the conversation.
The child readily agreed, especially since they also felt sorry for the dog, which seemed to be unceremoniously abandoned. The Food Panda rider also mentioned that he would find a way to nurse the dog back to health, as it appeared to be suffering from hair loss, possibly due to an illness.
