Rumor has it that ABS-CBN is considering moving It’s Showtime to the Kapuso network
Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime is rumored to move to GMA after Eat Bulaga’s TVJ transferred to TV5.
The Kapuso network still has an existing contract with TAPE Inc., the producer of EB. When the pioneer hosts, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon decided to leave TAPE, GMA continued to honor its contract with the production company that will end in 2024.
To continue their show, TVJ signed a contract with Manny Pangilinan’s Mediaquest. Rumor has it that the iconic trio will take over the noontime slot on TV5 which is currently by the Kapamilya noontime show.
A previous report stated that TV5’s management is still negotiating with ABS-CBN regarding the new timeslot that it is offering to It’s Showtime. Reportedly, the Kapatid network is more inclined to give the noontime slot to TVJ.
Based on a recent report from Bilyonaryo, it appeared that GMA’s Felipe Gozon is not yet giving up the noontime show war. It was said that the Kapamilya management is considering bringing its noontime show to GTV, a free-to-air television network owned by GMA.
PEP editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon said in an interview that “There are so many rumors floating now whether ‘It’s Showtime’ might go to another channel associated with GMA.”
When a top executive from GMA was asked about this, the answer was, “Honestly, I don’t know. They haven’t informed us yet. Maybe the higher-ups at ABS-CBN are in talks. They might still be discussing things among themselves before informing us if it’s a go.”
Previously, Tito Sotto said in an interview that their camp is not intervening with the discussion between the management of It’s Showtime and TV5 regarding the noontime slot.
