Ria Atayde Declines MMDA Spokesperson Referral, Here’s Why

MMDA taps actress Ria Atayde to be spokesperson but she turns it down.

RIA ATAYDE – Kapamilya actress Ria Atayde was offered by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to be their spokesperson.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) expressed in a previous article that they want Kapamilya actress Ria Atayde to be their spokesperson. MMDA Chairman Don Artes stated this in a press conference last May.

They feel like she will be a good asset to them.

“I personally recruited Ms. Ria Ataye who graciously agreed. I submitted the application, endorsement to Malacañang for Ms. Atayde to be the spokesperson of the MMDA,” said the chairman.

And recently, in an interview, the actress spoke about the government-related referral. According to her, the said position would require a lot of time and effort, and since her career is just doing just fine, she declined the offer.

“I think my career is at its, like, you know, it’s not the one at its best, but this is the best that’s been in a while. I feel like now is not the time for me to abandon it. I don’t want to spread myself out too thinly,” she said based on a report from PEP.

The actress said that perhaps the offer was made due to her nature as a vocal person and not for her driving skills. She shared some road mishaps she went through to prove her claims about her not being a good driver.

She believes that her character as an outspoken person is the asset MMDA probably considered. And having a brother who is a public servant, she realized that this career is really a calling.

“I don’t want to commit to something knowing that I can’t completely give myself, because I’m super in love with what I do. You know what I mean?” she said.
