MMDA Wants to Make Actress Ria Atayde as Spokesperson

Actress Ria Atayde was Selected to be the Spokesperson of MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) wants to make Kapamilya actress Ria Atayde their spokesperson.

MMDA Chairman Don Artes stated in a press conference on Friday, May 19, that he personally picked the actress and presented her candidacy to Malacaang. The MMDA chairman feels Atayde will be a valuable asset to the organization.

“I personally recruited Ms. Ria Ataye who graciously agreed. I submitted the application, endorsement to Malacañang for Ms. Atayde to be the spokesperson of the MMDA,” said Artes.

“As qualifications are concerned, she’s a communications graduate from La Salle. I think her work experience is suited for the spokesperson position. And her being a celebrity would be beneficial to the agency as far as information dissemination is concerned,”  he added.

According to Artes, Atayde’s notoriety would aid the agency in disseminating information. He also mentioned that Atayde is a “empowered woman,” which the agency requires.

“I personally believe she will be an asset in MMDA. That’s why ako mismo ang nag-ask sa kaniya kung pwede siya maging spokesperson ng MMDA (I personally asked her to be the spokesperson for MMDA),” Artes said.

At the moment, Atty. Mel Caranongan is the MMDA’s spokesperson, although solely as the officer-in-charge, as there is still an open Assistant Secretary seat for the spokesperson. Ria is Arjo’s sister, and both are the daughters of veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez and businessman Art Atayde.
