A heartwarming video shared by netizen Christian Jay Aquino has touched the hearts of many. In the video, his father is seen becoming emotional as Christian hangs a medal around his neck during his college graduation ceremony.
Christian wanted to honor his father for his unwavering dedication and sacrifices for their family.
Aquino revealed that his father and mother have dedicated almost half of their life to work in order to provide for their family. Despite the challenges of inadequate income, his parents continued to strive for their well-being.
“Almost half of their lives ni mama was spent for work para lang makapagprovide sa family namin. Although minsan hindi talaga sapat ang kita, nagsusumikap pa rin siya,” Aquino said.
He recognized that the medal was not just for himself but for the people who had contributed to his success, particularly his father.
The honor student explained that he chose to hang the medal around his father’s neck as a tribute and a sign of respect for the sacrifices his father had made for their family.
The latter emphasized that it was not an easy task to support a child’s education, and in exchange for their hardships, the medal served as a reward and validation of their hard work.
The student shared that he never expected his father to be moved to tears on stage. His father was left speechless until the end of the ceremony. However, Christian recognized his father’s happiness and pride through his non-verbal cues, particularly the wiping of his tears.
