Cops Arrest Teenager for Allegedly Stealing Neighbor’s Motorcycle
The police authorities arrested a male teenager for allegedly stealing his neighbor’s motorcycle in Las Piñas City.
A delivery rider in Las Piñas City had his stolen motorcycle returned to him early Thursday morning (June 1, 2023), thanks to the swift arrest of a 17-year-old male suspect who happened to be his neighbor.
The CCTV footage captured at the victim’s house shows the teenager suspect and his friends lurking around the vicinity at around 2 a.m. They meticulously surveyed the area before the suspect quickly snatched the motorcycle and fled the scene, while his friends boarded a pedicab and headed in another direction.
The following morning, when the owner of the motorcycle, Alvin Canillo, emerged from his home to begin his work as a delivery rider, he discovered that his motorcycle was missing.
Ang suspect, menor de edad,” said Las Piñas Police Chief P/Col. Jaime Santos.
Canillo promptly reported the incident to the local barangay authorities. The stolen motorcycle was eventually found outside a fast-food chain near the victim’s house, following the intervention of the Las Piñas Police.
According to barangay tanod Julieta Valderrama, the suspect has a known history of theft and has been involved in other complaints within their community.
The suspect is now facing charges of carnapping, and the victim, Canillo, is determined to pursue the case.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Las Piñas Police. As he is a minor, he will be placed under the care of the City Social Welfare at the Bahay Pag-asa.
The Las Piñas Police are urging parents to guide their children properly to prevent them from getting involved in criminal activities.
