Alden Richards Recalls 1st Huge Earnings
ALDEN RICHARDS – Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards revealed what he did with his first huge earnings.
Alden Richards does not always have it easy, and because of this, he has learned to be more ready for the unexpected. The Kapuso star sat down with talent agent Ogie Diaz for an interview that the latter conducted at Concha’s Garden Cafe, the restaurant chain that Alden co-owns, in Cavite, and posted on the latter’s YouTube channel.
After discussing Alden’s various business ventures, Ogie questioned how the actor was able to develop the mentality required to execute such proceedings. Alden said, “Laki ako sa hirap, alam ko ‘yung pakiramdam na naghihirap, walang makain or walang pambili ng pagkain.”
Alden Richards emphasized that his family was neither well-off nor in extreme poverty when Ogie teased Alden that he might be pretending to be poor. He said his dad’s salary wasn’t big enough, so his siblings would help fund his education.
As a result, Alden takes care to protect anything he can rely on, such as his job, appearance, or skills, so that when the time comes, he will still be able to do what he wants, especially helping others.
“May time pagdating ng sweldo ng tatay ko, napautang na ‘yun ng nanay ko bago dumating, so dadaan lang sa palad niya…”
“Buti na lang minsan may mga mababait kaming kapitbahay na namimigay ng pagkain during that time, or nakikikain kami sa kapitbahay kapag walang ulam,” said Alden.

Lots of people are aware that Alden Richards initially wanted to become a pilot, but his mother persuaded him to pursue a career in show business instead: “’Yung pagsali ko ng pageant, kinailangan ko sumali kasi kailangan namin ng pera noon.”
When Ogie asked Alden about what he did after winning money from a pageant for the first time, Alden replied that he opened a bank account right away and paid the handlers and makeup artists’ fees.
“First time kong makahawak ng P30,000 sa buhay ko noong nanalo ako. Sabi ko, ‘Ganito pala ang feeling, ang kapal, ang dami pala ng isang libo’,” he recalled.
“Hindi ko agad siya ginastos, binangko ko agad lahat tapos not until kailangan ko lang siya ‘dun lang ako huhugot,” he added.
