Elderly Man Died After Being Killed by 40 Crocodiles When He Falls into Enclosure
A Cambodian elderly man died after allegedly being killed by forty (40) crocodiles when he falls into its enclosure.
According to police, a 72-year-old Cambodian man was killed by 40 crocodiles after falling into their enclosure on his family’s reptile farm. Luan Nam, the victim, was attempting to relocate a crocodile out of a cage where it had deposited eggs when it grabbed the stick he was using as a goad and drew him in.
The main group of reptiles then attacked him, tearing his body apart and splattering blood all over the concrete enclosure at the farm in Siem Reap. According to the report, biting marks covered the remains of Luan Nam’s body.
“While he was chasing a crocodile out of an egg-laying cage, the crocodile attacked the stick, causing him to fall into the enclosure,” Mey Savry, police chief of Siem Reap commune.
“Then other crocodiles pounced, attacking him until he was dead,” he said.
According to him, one of the man’s arms was bitten off and consumed by the crocodiles. Luan Nam was the president of the local crocodile farmers’ association, but his family may now sell his stock after pushing him to cease growing the reptiles for years, according to commune chairman May Sameth.
According to the police head, a two-year-old child was killed and eaten by crocodiles in 2019 after wandering into her family’s reptile farm in the same area. There are several crocodile farms in and around Siem Reap, the gateway city to the famous Angkor Wat ruins.
The reptiles are kept for their eggs, skins, meat, and commerce in their young. This is at least the second time a crocodile has killed someone this month, based on the report.
