Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Isabela, May 25, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in Maconacon, Isabela today, Thursday, May 25, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Isabela. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.2.
The earthquake that struck Isabela, today, Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 07:55 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Maconacon.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Isabela was located at 17.60°North, 122.33°East – 026 km North 23° East of Maconacon. It had a depth of focus of 028 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording bureau, the following instrumental intensities were felt in these areas:
- Intensity I
- Gonzaga, Cagayan
- Intensity II
- Peñablanca, Cagayan
