Rookie Cop Accused of Identity Theft and Swindling in Albay Arrested
Authorities arrested a rookie cop after allegedly being accused of identity theft and swindling in Daraga, Albay.
A 30-year-old novice police officer was imprisoned after being apprehended in an entrapment operation carried out by the PNP Regional Anti-Cybercrime Division and the PNP-Integrity Monitoring Enforcement Group. In a money remittance, the suspect was accused of ‘identity theft’ and ‘estafa’.
The rookie cop was identified as Patrolman Gabriel Quinto Fillone of Barangay Ilaya, Balud, Masbate, according to the report. Fillone is said to be a member of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 5 at Camp Gen Simeon Ola.
According to the report, the entrapment operation against Fillone was conducted by the Daraga Police, the PNP Regional Anti-Cybercrime Division, and the PNP-Integrity Monitoring Enforcement Group in response to a complaint from an unknown 43-year-old resident of Barangay Baranghawon, Tabaco City, Albay.
According to the woman, Fillone is threatening her and demanding a big sum of money. When the undercover guys detained him and took the P250,000 given by the victim in a money remittance, the police did not stop.
Fillone was also disarmed, and the phony PRC ID and the sum, withdrawal paperwork, and his M16 Armalite Rifle were obtained. Fillone was accused with violating Republic Act 10175 for identity theft, swindling or estafa, cybercrime crime prevention act violation, and falsification of public documents.
