Olympic figure skater Michael Martinez teaches Alex Gonzaga to skate.

ALEX GONZAGA – Michael Martinez is an Olympic figure skater and in a new vlog of Alex Gonzaga, he appears to teach her.

Olympic figure skater Michael Martinez competes as a singles skater. He represented the Philippines in the 2014 and 2018 Olympics and is the first figure skater from Southeast Asia to qualify for the Winter Games.

He is the 2015 Asian Figure Skating Trophy champion and a two-time Triglav Trophy Champion. He has also won the ISU Challenger Series medal, silver at the 2014 Warsaw Cup.

And recently, he appeared as a guest and teacher of Alex Gonzaga on her channel.

In the vlog, Alex shared that she has always wanted to learn and do skating but back in her younger years, it takes a lot of money to train. Her Ate Toni Gonzaga learned to do rollerblades but as for her, she really can’t deal with anything involving wheels or tires.

Michael shared in the video that he’s been skating since 2005 and to teach Alex how to do it makes him nervous.

“Hindi ako marunong pero gusto ko talagang matuto,” quips Alex. For the first tip she received, Michael taught her to march to practice balance.

He also taught her what to do in case she falls down, the right movement while gliding and sliding on ice, and how to get from a fall.

Here’s the video:

Meanwhile, the Olympian figure skater is a part of the Kapuso series “Hearts on Ice” and he’s skating with stars Xian Lim, Ashley Ortega, and Roxie Smith in this series. And through this series, he was able to do a lift on ice for the first time.
