Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Surigao del Norte, May 10, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.5 magnitude quake in Leyte today, Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Surigao del Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 3.5.
The earthquake that struck Surigao del Norte, today, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 04:33 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Burgos.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Leyte was located at 10.07°North, 126.08°East – 005 km North 11° East of Burgos. It had a depth of focus of 009 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording bureau, no intensity was felt and recorded of the said quake at the epicenter of the tremor as well as the nearby areas. Instrumental intensity I was recorded in Marabut, Samar.
