BI Intercepted 4 Victims of Fake CFO Certificates at 2 International Airports

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) intercepted four (4) victims of fake Commission on Filipinos Overseas-Guidance and Counseling Program (CFO-GCP) certificates at the airports.

At a press conference on Tuesday, May 9, BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval stated that such credentials are required by the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) for persons who want to go to another country to see their girlfriends or husbands. He revealed that four victims were apprehended at two different airports.

“Sa nakaraang linggo nakapagrecord na po tayo ng dalawang biktima but very fresh po, kahapon lamang, there are another two victims na na-intercept po ng ating mga tauhan. Nakikita po natin that it’s really increasing at mukhang marami-rami po tayong mga kababayan na naloloko,” said Sandoval.

Two of the victims were apprehended at Clark International Airport, while the other two were apprehended at Cebu International Airport, according to Sandoval. He went on to say that they are attempting to use different airports so that the victims they are duping can flee.

“So it’s obvious that they’re trying to use different airports para po makaalis itong mga naloloko po nilang biktima,” shared Sandoval, based on the article of Inquirer.

Meanwhile, the victims have been handed over to IACAT, who is assisting them in filing charges against their recruiters and fixers. Sandoval encouraged those interested in acquiring such a certificate to apply through cfo.gov.ph, while warning that certifications obtained from fixers may be false.

“We also have CFO representatives sa ating mga paliparan na siya pong nagbe-verify kung meron po tayong nakita na kaduda-duda doon po sa certificate nila,” he said.
