Why Was Dominic Almelor Suddenly Removed from PTV-4?

What Really Happened at PTV-4? Dominic Almelor’s Alleged Behavior Sparks Uproar

DOMINIC ALMELOR – Social media erupted after news broke that Dominic Almelor was removed from PTV-4, prompting many to dig into the claims surrounding his leadership.

Questions have emerged following reports that former TV Patrol journalist Dominic Almelor was removed from his role as PTV-4’s news department head and newscaster. His dismissal has become a hot topic, fueled by allegations regarding his conduct toward coworkers and prompting widespread reactions both online and within the media industry.

Several individuals who previously worked with Almelor at the ABS-CBN newsroom recalled him as someone who could be overbearing. One former colleague shared, “Wala naman akong personal encounter pero nakwento ng mga naging desk, terror daw siya noon,” suggesting that his tough reputation had long circulated in the workplace.

The situation drew even more attention after broadcaster and TV host Ramon Tulfo made a Facebook post addressing the matter. In his post, Tulfo stated, “Dahil sa kanyang kayabangan, sinipa sa puwesto si Dominic Almelor bilang head ng news department at newscaster ng PTV-4.” He also noted that Almelor, who previously reported for ABS-CBN, had a reputation for being “maangas… sa mga taong nakakababa sa kanya.”

Tulfo went on to claim that Almelor regularly questioned peers about their educational background, allegedly portraying himself as superior because he graduated from the University of the Philippines (UP). Tulfo said that Almelor often remarked, “Taga U.P. ako. Taga U.P. ka ba?” particularly when coworkers challenged his decisions.

He further remarked, “Oo nga’t nagtapos ka nga sa U.P. pero kelangan mo pa bang ipangalandakan?” stressing that academic achievements should not be used as a tool for arrogance. Tulfo added that while Almelor may have strong intellectual abilities, he lacks emotional awareness, explaining, “Almelor is an example of a person with high IQ but low on EQ… EQ trumps IQ anytime. Another word for EQ is PR or public relations.”

The post quickly drew strong engagement online, with netizens voicing various opinions. One commenter, Wolf Alpha, expressed frustration over perceived elitism, stating, “Kung taga UP ka bakit alila ka lang ng mga negosyanteng may-ari ng Media?… ‘di hamak na marangal kaysa sayo ‘yung nagtitinda ng Fishball kasi walang amo ‘yun.”

Some UP alumni also joined the discussion, saying they felt disappointed by certain graduates whose actions cast a negative light on the university.

As the conversation continues to grow, many are still anticipating Dominic Almelor’s response to the allegations.
