Vic Sotto Breaks Silence On Retirement Rumors, Eat Bulaga Issue

Vic Sotto Breaks Silence On Retirement Rumors & Possible Changes On “Eat Bulaga”

VIC SOTTO – Veteran actor and tv host Vic Sotto is setting the record straight on rumors that he plans to retire from showbusiness and Eat Bulaga issue.

Its theme song’s lyrics, “Isang Libo’t Isang Tuwa, buong bansa…, Eat Bulaga!” for the past four decades, the longest-running noontime show has actually changed the Filipinos’ lunchtime habit while giving a thousand and one laughter to every home. But now, it seemed like everyone in the nation, from Batanes to Jolo, as the song puts it, was interested in what would happen to the beloved program and its hosts in the wake of the alleged internal disagreement among its executives and hosts.

The problem first surfaced as a blind item, and as the days passed, it grew more complicated. Following that, the “Eat Bulaga” mainstays Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, also known as TVJ, dropped hints here and there until word broke that “Eat Bulaga” chief executive Tony Tuviera had been fired by the Jalosjos family, who owns Television and Production Exponents Incorporated (TAPE). Tony’s APT is a subsidiary of TAPE, the production firm in charge of the program.

Eat Bulaga! was produced by TAPE since 1981. Recall that last week, “Eat Bulaga” co-host and Vic’s brother Tito Sotto said that TAPE owed Vic and Joey their salary and that TAPE was even supposedly even withholding taxes from Vic before paying his fees.

Vic has spoken out against the alleged P60 million (P30 million each) that the producer of their noontime program is allegedly owed by him and co-host Joey de Leon. “Actually, kulang ‘yun. Na-wrong-info pa nga si Tito Sen. ‘Yung kay Joey ‘yun,” he said during the Hanabishi press conference.

Just recently, Vic Sotto has spoken out on the possible changes to “Eat Bulaga,” giving a little insight into the future of the country’s longest-running noontime program.

In Nelson Canlas’ report on “24 Oras Weekend,” which aired on Sunday, Bossing declared that “’Eat Bulaga’ is here to stay.” He also noted that he is not yet retiring from show business.

“Marami pa akong matutulungan. Marami pa akong ma-e-entertain,” said Vic
