Honest NAIA Security Guard Earns Praises for Returning Lost Wallet
An honest NAIA security guard receives praises online for returning a lost wallet containing 1.5 million yen to its rightful owner.
Crispin Toquero, a security guard at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 in Manila, is receiving recognition and admiration from netizens after returning a lost wallet containing 1.5 million Japanese yen or around ₱615,708 to its owner, a Japanese tourist named Kiyoshi Fukasawa.
On April 29, Toquero was performing his duty at the arrival area of NAIA Terminal 2 when he spotted a wallet left on the floor by a Japanese passenger.
The honest guard immediately reported the incident to the airport police, who were also looking for the missing wallet. A Filipina friend of Fukasawa later confirmed that the lost wallet belonged to him.
The security personnel shared that he was raised by his parents to be an honest and responsible person. He mentioned that he has found and returned lost items left by passengers on multiple occasions, as it is not his nature to take something that does not belong to him.
“Pinalaki po ako ng magulang ko nang tama. Ilang beses na po ako nakapulot sa airport ng mga naiiwan ng pasahero, pero hindi ko po inisip na ito ay pag-interesan, Mahirap lang po kami pero hindi ko po kaya ipakain sa pamilya ko ang pera na galing sa masama,” Toquero said.
Toquero’s act of honesty has gained praise from netizens and his own family, especially his wife, who expressed her pride in a Facebook post. She wrote, “Ika nGa.! No legacy is so rich as honesty I salute you my love talagang napakabuti mong taO . subrang proud ako saiyo.”
The 45-year-old security guard hails from Candon, Ilocos Sur, and has a wife and two children. His story serves as an inspiration to many, showing that honesty and integrity are still values worth upholding in this day and age.
