Drunk Cop Arrested After He Runs Amok During Religious Activity in Lapu-Lapu City
Authorities arrested a drunk cop after he allegedly runs amok during a religious activity in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
A video of a police officer in uniform running amok in the midst of religious activities in Lapu-Lapu City goes popular on social media. According to the story, the inebriated cop was spotted consuming beer while at the celebration.
The cop was even seen dancing like he was at a party and allegedly punching people in the middle of a religious ceremony. According to a GMA Regional TV report, the real video of the police punching at the event was not obtained.
Police Master Sergeant Manfred Maarat was recognized as the inebriated cop. According to the complaint submitted by Police Station 5, Maarat was drunk when he arrived in the area, carrying alcohol. He was also excluded from religious activity and simply went inside.
Based on the report, members of the church were also targeted by the police. The prosecutor’s office is investigating accusations of minor physical injuries and disruption of religious worship filed against Maarat, a member of the Lapu-Lapu City Police.
The officers in question will also face an administrative complaint. Maarat, who is being held at the Lapu-Lapu City Police detention facility, has refused to make a statement. According to information from Police Regional Office 7, there have been instances involving the police as a result of his frequent inebriation.
