Akyat-Bahay Suspect Arrested in QC While Using Stolen Bike
MANILA – An akyat-bahay suspect has been arrested by the police authorities in Quezon City while using a stolen bike.
In Quezon City, a man was arrested for breaking into a house and stealing a mountain bike, a helmet, a TV, and a TV box. According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the suspect used a hairpin to pick the lock of the door and gain entry to the house in Barangay Bagong Pag Asa.
During the investigation, QCPD found that there was no one inside the house at the time of the robbery, as the victims were on vacation in Cavite. However, one of the neighbors noticed that the door was open and reported it to the victims, who immediately returned home.
Upon their arrival, the victims discovered that their belongings had been stolen and reported the incident to the police. The QCPD launched a follow-up operation and the victim spotted the suspect using his mountain bike. A chase ensued and the suspect was caught.
During his arrest, the suspect admitted to planning to sell the stolen items for P17,000) to buy medicine for his sick child in Quezon. He has been charged with robbery and is currently in police custody.
According to the QCPD, this was not the suspect’s first encounter with the law. He had previously been arrested four times for illegal drugs and illegal gambling.
