Morissette Amon was asked about being compared to Charice Pempengco
Asia’s Phoenix Morissette Amon admitted that she is a fan of Charice Pempengco who is now known as Jake Zyrus.
Morissette is known for her singing prowess. Her fans are loving her original songs and covers. She has already done sold-out concerts in the Philippines and abroad. The Cebuana singer has also collaborations with international artists.
Just recently, she was part of the series of concerts that American songwriter David Foster conducted in the Philippines.
Through that stint, comparison surfaced. To recall, Raquel Pempengco, the mother of Chrarice Pempengco, said that no one could beat her daughter when singing David Foster’s songs.
Charice has done a series of concerts also with David. Morissette Amon was silent about being compared to Charice for quite some time. However, based on the article in PEP, she answered this issue during a recent press conference for the upcoming Martin & Morissette concert, her concert with Concert King Martin Nievera.
Morissette said that if Filipinos have the chance to work with international acts, it is not just a success for the artist but also for the whole music industry in the Philippines.
“So, I take it as me given the opportunity to do that naman—after Charice or Jake Zyrus did it before—is a blessing for me and OPM still,” the Asia’s Phoenix explained.
She added that even though David Foster has already done shows in other countries, still he comes back to the Philippines. This means that the American songwriter loves working with Filipino artists. “So it’s really a win for everyone and not just for the artists,” the Cebuana singer said.
Morissette Amon also shared that she is a fan of Charice Pempengco. She said that she and her team are still listening to the song of the singer who is now known as Jake Zyrus. The 26-year-old singer also said that she is open to working with Jake and that they were supposed to do a show together in Singapore.
