A Canadian Producer praised the singing prowess of Morissette Amon
Ovela, a Canadian producer who is also a popular video reactor on YouTube, said that Asia’s Phoenix Morissette Amon is the “rightful successor” to Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez.
Regine is undoubtedly one of the OPM icons who is an inspiration to many younger artists. Her achievements as a singer will forever be part of the history of music in the Philippines.
One of the younger artists who is perceived to be the next in line is Morissette. In a recent reaction vlog that Ovela shared on his YouTube channel, he featured a video compilation of female singers singing the most difficult OPM songs.
Based on the article in The Philippine Star, artists who were featured in the said video and the songs they sang were “Jona’s “Maghihintay Ako,” Lani Misalucha’s “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,” Sarah Geronimo’s “Forever’s Not Enough,” Katrina Velarde’s “Lason Mong Halik,” Aicelle Santos’ “Ikaw Pa Rin,” Regine Velasquez’s “How Could You Leave,” Kyla’s “Hanggang Ngayon” and Morissette’s “’Di Mapaliwanag.”
The Canadian producer lauded Morissette Amon’s whistle. “See? She did it again exactly the same way. And we’re talking about whistling here. It’s crazy!” Ovela said. He also said that Morissette is the only one who can do that or maybe Jona also but he is not 100 percent sure.
“And I say that she’s the successor, the rightful successor to Regine, to the throne, that throne that we all know that Regine has, right?” the Canadian producer stressed. He said that it is because aside from her superb whistle, the Asia’s Phoenix can also do other things “with such precision and excellence.”
Ovela also mentioned that the video appeared to have been done by a fan of Morissette Amon as the video ended with clips of her singing. He said that personally, he would like to end the video featuring Regine Velasquez.
“Personally I would have ended with Regine out of respect even if you believe that Morissette now, today, might be better than Regine? You know?” the Canadian producer said.
