Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Occidental Mindoro, April 29, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.2 magnitude quake in Looc, Occidental Mindoro today, Saturday, April 29, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Occidental Mindoro. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 5.2.
The earthquake that struck Occidental Mindoro, today, Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 12:00 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Looc.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Occidental Mindoro was located at 13.63°North, 120.40°East – 019 km South 58° East of Looc. It had a depth of focus of 074 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording bureau, the following intensities were felt in these areas:

- Abra De Ilog, Occidental Mindoro
- Lubang, Occidental Mindoro
- Alfonso, Cavite
- Intensity IV
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
- Paluan, Occidental Mindoro
- Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
- Calapan, Oriental Mindoro
- San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro
