SIM Card Registration Extended for 90 Days

SIM CARD REGISTRATION EXTENDED – Malacañang approved the extension of the mandatory SIM card registration for 90 more days.

Supposedly, today, April 26, 2023, is the deadline of the SIM card registration in the Philippines. SIM card users who failed to register their SIM cards may not be able to avail the usual services they get. However, amid the low turnout of the April 26 deadline, the SIM card registration is extended for 90 days.

BONGBONG MARCOS – The Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM) revealed the decision of the President amid the calls for extension of SIM card registration deadline.

One of the initial changes implemented under the administration of Pres. Bongbong Marcos is the registration of SIM cards. The SIM Registration Act was the first bill signed by the current Chief Executive into law.

The bill was crafted in the pursuit to heightened the security of SIM card users and to reduce the incidents of scamming and spamming using SIM cards. The Philippines is considered as the Text Capital of the World but, undeniably, texting has been used by some individuals in their ill motives.

Following the signing of the SIM Registration Act, different telecommunication provider companies in the country set up different ways that users can register their SIM cards. Most telcos made sure there is an online platform where their users can register for convenience. You may also go to their offices in shopping malls to seek for assistance in registering your SIM card.

The implementing rules and regulations (IRR) were crafted and April 26 was set as the deadline for SIM Card registration. Unregistered SIM card will restrict its owner from availing its services as they may be deactivated after the said deadline.

Meanwhile, amid the calls for extension of the deadline of SIM registration, Pres. Bongbong Marcos signed the 90-day extension. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Palace broadcaster Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM) announced the signing of the 90-day extension of SIM card registration by the President.
