BI Nabbed a Senegalese Man for Presenting Fake Passport
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a Senegalese man for allegedly presenting fake passport to the authorities.
After showing a falsified passport and border arrival stamp, BI agents handcuffed a visitor from Senegal. The 37-year-old Senegalese requested for a tourist visa extension earlier this month, according to BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco.
According to the report, BI tourist visa section chairman Raymond Remigio said his crew discovered a variation in the foreigner’s documents. It went on to say that because frontline Desiree Maliksi questioned the foreigner’s passport, it was forwarded for a secondary check.
The foreigner’s passport and border stamp were both faked, according to BI’s forensic documents laboratory. Tansingco thanked the immigration staff for their efforts and warned foreigners against counterfeiting as a result.
“Our personnel are highly-skilled in fraud detection, so schemes like this will definitely be caught. We will deport anyone who tries to defraud the system,” warned the chief of Bl.
The foreigner is still being investigated and is expected to face charges for breaking immigration regulations. The suspect might be deported, blacklisted, and barred from entering the Philippines.
