2 Police Spotted Sleeping While on Duty Relieved from Post in Cebu City
Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) sacked two (2) police officers after they were spotted sleeping while on duty.
According to CCPO Chief Col Ireneo Dalogdog, two police officers were relieved of their positions due to irresponsibility on the job. According to the article, the two slacker officers are staff sergeants and corporals.
Dalogdog informed that they will be sent temporarily to the Cebu City Holding Admin Unit while the pre-charge investigation into the administrative case they will face continues. The City Investigation and Detection Management Unit (CIDMU) is preparing to file the proper administrative case against the two employees.
“Hinayaan natin ang dalawa na mag-explain. As of now the investigation is ongoing, so ang atong CIDMU nag ready na sa appropriate administrative case to be filed against the two personnel. We will not tolerate this kind of behavior,” said Dalogdog.
Major Nolan Tagsip, chief of Abellana Police Station 2, where the two officers are stationed, stated that his officers had a 12-hour shift and were scheduled to leave at 8:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13th. He was shocked however, to learn that they were photographed while sleeping in the patrol car at 6:00 a.m. The photo in question was shared on Facebook and quickly went viral.
“We immediately relieved them pending the ongoing investigation. Diri lang usa sila sa city headquarters then we will file an administrative case sa ilaha as per Napolcom 2016-002 memorandum for pre-charge investigation,”said Tagsip.
The Philippine National Police, according to Dalogdog, strongly prohibits sleeping while on duty. As a result, Dalogdog committed to charging the station commanders with administrative violations if any of their employees were found in a similar infraction, with a penalty of 30-60 days’ suspension from work.
