Grade 2 Student in Cadiz, Negros Occidental Dies of Choking
A tragic incident unfolded at Cadiz East Elementary School, where a grade 2 student was found lifeless Friday morning (April 14, 2023), allegedly due to choking during recess.
According to initial reports, the grade 2 student was standing and drinking water during recess when he suddenly grabbed his teacher and appeared to be struggling to breathe. The teacher acted swiftly, rushing the child to the Emergency Clinic for urgent medical attention.
At first, it was suspected that the siomai given by one of the boy’s classmates may have been the cause of the blockage. However, upon further investigation, it was discovered that the food remained untouched on the table and did not seem to be responsible for the choking incident.
Upon searching the child’s bag, school authorities uncovered several pieces of chubby, a type of candy, with multiple wrappers already opened. Only one piece of candy remained with its contents intact.
This led to the suspicion that the candy may have been the culprit behind the tragic event, as it could have lodged in the child’s throat and caused the choking.
The teachers and staff at Cadiz East Elementary School are deeply saddened by the loss of the young student and are urging the community to refrain from spreading inaccurate stories or misinformation about the child’s death.
They are working closely with the authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident and determine the exact cause of the choking.
The loss of a young life is a heartbreaking reminder of the need for vigilance and caution in ensuring the safety and well-being of all students within the school community.
