Illegal Drugs Placed Inside Condom Wrapper Intercepted in Dumaguete Jail
Jail guards intercepted small packets of illegal drugs placed inside a condom wrapper inside Dumaguete jail.
A detainee is being investigated after a minor amount of suspected shabu was discovered in the reception area of this capital city’s Negros Oriental Detention and Rehabilitation Center (NODRC). The illegal medications were allegedly concealed within a pack of contraception.
According to Elmer Ebona, provincial chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), a man and woman riding a motorcycle left a tiny box for a Person Deprived of Liberty (PDL). According to the article, the detainee has not been named because the investigation is still ongoing.
Based on the report, the contents of the package were revealed to be illicit substances after being examined by the jail guard. A total of 13 tiny parcels of suspected shabu were hidden inside roll-on deodorant and condom wrappers.
The authorities were presented with 13 grams of illegal substances worth P88,400.00. Ebona stated that there is a chance of illegal drug sales inside the prison, but they have no jurisdiction to intervene and can only assist in inventorying and disposing of it while the investigation is left to the provincial jail authorities.
“We only assisted in the inventory of the suspected illegal drugs and we will dispose of it, however, investigation of the incident lies on the provincial jail authorities,” he said in Cebuano.
