Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Agusan del Norte, April 14, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.1 magnitude quake in Agusan del Norte today, Friday, April 14, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Agusan del Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 5.1.
The earthquake that struck Agusan del Norte, today, Friday, April 14, 2023, at 12:04 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Santiago.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Agusan del Norte was located at 09.26°North, 125.61°East – 006 km South 88° East of Santiago with a depth of focus of 013 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. The following intensities were recorded in these areas:
- Intensity I
- Guinsiliban, Camiguin
- Intensity II
- Lanuza, Surigao del Sur
- Intensity III
- Talacogon, Surigao del Sur
- Intensity IV
- Santiago, Jabonga, and City of Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte
