More Than 1, 000 Students in Eastern Samar to Receive Free Graduation Picture From Project Dagway

Over 1, 000 students in Borongan Digital Photography Forum, Eastern Samar are expected to receive free graduation pictures.

More than 1,000 graduating students from elementary and high school are expected to receive free graduation pictorials from amateur and professional photographers from Borongan Digital Photography Forum in Eastern Samar this school year.

Following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the group behind “Project: Dagway” decided to once again provide free class portraits to those who cannot afford them, particularly in remote barangays in the province.

“Gusto naming ipagpatuloy ang aming adbokasiya sa pagtulong sa pamamagitan ng lens,” Miguel Voloso said.

The pilot graduation pictorial for the project this year was held in Balangkayan, Eastern Samar on March 31, where approximately 68 graduating students from Cabay and neighboring elementary schools benefited from the free photos.

The Project Dagway team, in partnership with the Department of Education-Eastern Samar, identified the student beneficiaries, while Sinirangan Pageants, a group of professionals from various fields, helped with the students’ make-up for the photo shoot.

The group is scheduled to travel to Homonhon Island, Guiuan, where approximately 300 graduating students are waiting for free graduation photos, as well as the towns of Maslog, Hinolaso in Dolores River, and Matarinao in Salcedo this April.

The BDPF is composed of both novice and professional local photographers such as Abbie Odejerte, Annie Elecho, Sherwin Aquino, Lolot Baquilod, and Voloso.

Several professional photographers, including Aaron Ebio, one of Metro Manila’s top portrait photographers; Alren Beronio, a freelance photojournalist contributing to some international media outlets, and Abdel Elecho, a surf photographer and former close-up photographer for the Senate, also joined the project.
