DOJ Gives Update on Gov. Roel Degamo Case Investigation & Masterminds

ROEL DEGAMO CASE – Justice Secretary Boying Remulla said that one of the alleged masterminds in the case was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Last March 4, an attack that led to the death of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo caused alarm to a lot of people most especially his constituents. Men wearing pixelated uniform barged in the gate of the compound of the Governor in Pamplona and shot him.

The Governor’s ally and several civilians who were at his compound to seek for help also died from the attack. Five hours after the incident, three (3) suspects were arrested by the authorities. In the following days, several more suspects were nabbed by the authorities.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Justice Secretary Remulla further revealed that “one of the masterminds” in the Roel Degamo case was arrested by the NBI. According to him, he has yet to speak with the NBI on the name of the said mainplayer in the incident that led to the Governor’s death but it is in his own reading that a mastermind was caught.

Remulla said that the alleged mastermind was caught fleeing from Negros Oriental. He was nabbed outside Negros. The Justice Secretary believes that “politics” plays a huge factor in the killing of the Negros Oriental Governor. The authorities are looking into the possibility that there are two to three masterminds behind the death of the Governor.
