Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Negros Oriental, March 20, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.7 magnitude quake in Negros Oriental today, Monday, March 20, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Negros Oriental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 3.7.
The earthquake that struck Negros Oriental, today, Monday, March 20, 2023, at 02:50 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Basay.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Negros Oriental was located at 8.79°North, 122.33°East – 077 km South 26° West of Basay with a depth of focus of 027 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity as well as instrumental intensity was recorded by the quake-monitoring agency as per its release.
