Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, March 18, 2023

EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.8 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Occidental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.8.

The earthquake that struck Davao Occidental, today, Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 03:37 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Jose Abad Santos.

Earthquake Ilocos Norte

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 05.76°North, 125.85°East – 028 km South 53° East of Jose Abad Santos with a depth of focus of 104 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. The following intensities were recorded in these areas:

  • Intensity IV
    • Malita, Davao Occidental
    • Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental
    • Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental
  • Intensity III
    • Santa Maria, Davao Occidental
    • Sarangani, Davao Occidental
