David Licauco was thinking of quitting showbiz after his stint in ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’
Talent manager Arnold Vegafria of ALV Talent Circuit revealed that he used to beg for roles for Kapuso actor David Licauco.
David’s portrayal of Fidel in the Kapuso series Maria Clara at Ibarra captured the attention of many showbiz fans. His tandem with Barbie Forteza who played Klay in the series also received positive feedback.
The said successful series was supposed to be David’s last project because he was already thinking of ending his acting career and will just concentrate on his businesses.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer, Arnold Vegafria said that David Licauco was thinking that nothing is happening in his career and so he will just quit. For the actor, his career was stagnant as there were no interesting developments.
Arnold shared that he would beg TV networks to give David projects. “Back then, we used to have a hard time landing roles. I had to beg networks to give him a role. Or we had to produce a movie for him so he could get noticed,” the talent manager said.
Although there was no remarkable thing happening in David’s career at that time, Arnold said that he still believes in the actor. The talent manager said that he saw David has the X factor and he can do something to help him.
Arnold also shared that at first, they have no intention to accept the role of Fidel in MCAI when it was offered to David. However, the Kapuso network was able to convince them and eventually accepted the offer.
Although it was just a supporting role and he has been wanting to land a lead role, this project boosted David’s career. With the attention that the actor got with his onscreen tandem with Barbie, the production had to make some changes in the script because his character was originally a supporting character only.
“I told David, ‘Even if it’s just a supporting role,’ try to get noticed. Show them what you can do. Study your role well. Magpa-cute ka!’” Arnold Vegafria said to David Licauco.
