Mon Tulfo Reacts to Jay Sonza’s Statement on Alleged Exploitation in Showbiz
Veteran journalist Ramon “Mon” Tulfo reacts to the statement of co-journalist Jay Sonza about the alleged exploitation against Liza Soberano in showbiz.
Sonza recently turned to Facebook to express his thoughts on the feud between talent manager Ogie Diaz and former Kapamilya star Liza Soberano. Sonza shared his thoughts on Liza’s breakdown of her talent fee.
Liza claims that 30% of her talent fee goes to Ogie, 20% to the road manager, and 10% to ABS-Star CBN’s Magic, however, she stressed that the network’s talent management arm only hires from teleseryes, not her endorsements.
“Base on her recent revelations, and on account of the tax regime applied on taxable income, it would appear that her ACTUAL net income is roughly in the minimum of 28% ONLY,” Sonza said.
“Tapos, dito pa kinukuha iyong up keep tulad ng wardrobe, jewelries, hygiene, mobility, iyong lambing o harbat ng mga movie reporters/announcers, bayad sa alalay, make up artist, etc.”
“Mula sa gross amount of Contract/Engagement/Shoot or Taping Fees, kukunin ang mga komisyon ng talent manager (30%), guardian/talent scout/road manager (20%) and star magic/abs-cbn talent center (10%), plus other taxes (VAT, Income) and other mandatory & legal deductibles.”
“EXPLOITATION BA ANG TAWAG DOON? Abuso siguro ang akmang pagsasalarawan!” he added in his Facebook post.
Tulfo’s reaction to his verified Facebook account may be seen in the comments section. According to his remarks, the entertainment industry is exploitative. Netizens responded with a variety of thoughts and comments. Meanwhile, Diaz has yet to respond, react, or issue a statement in response to Sonza’s charges.
