Ogie Diaz Suggests Talents Should Undergo Psychiatric Evaluation

Ogie Diaz stressed the importance of taking care of one’s mental health

Talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz suggested to fellow managers to make their talents undergo psychiatric evaluation.

Ogie shared a post about this aspect of his job as a manager. This came after the striking statements that his former talent Liza Soberano shared during her Fast Talk interview.

With what Liza said about the commissions and the things she needed to deal with being under contract with her previous management, Ogie received negative reactions. The talent manager was accused of abusing Liza.

In a Facebook post on March 14, Ogie Diaz suggested this. “Isa-suggest ko sa mga talent managers ito: bago tumanggap o tanggapin ang napupusuang talent, dapat, ipa-undergo sa psychiatric evaluation ang bata,” he said.

The talent manager-vlogger pointed out that these days, many teenagers are already dealing with mental health issues. He said that through this evaluation, talent managers will also know how to handle their talents behavior and attitude problems.

Ogie also suggested that in every contract, the talent will have to sign a paper attesting that he or she likes doing a certain project. “Para pag nagkabaligtaran, ‘Ayan, o! Pinirmahan mo na happy ka doing the project,'” he said.

He also wants that it will be specified in the contract that “in the absence of the manager, the road manager will be there for the talent.”

Ogie also stressed the importance of having an open communication between the manager and the talent. “Ipagpapaalam ng talent ang lahat ng moves niya na pwedeng makaapekto sa kanyang career para hindi nangyayari na mag-damage control ang manager sa kag@gahan at kag@guhang ginawa ng talent,” he said.

Ogie said that many people think that doing the job of a talent manager is just waiting for the money to come in. He stressed that his job is like giving birth to a baby and the responsibility of taking care extends until the baby becomes an adult.

Kaya ang akala ng iba, kubra lang nang kubra ng komisyon ang manager, pero hindi alam ng mga nagmamarunomg kung gaano kahirap maging manager,” he said, adding that even the personal problems of the talents are being handled by talent managers like him.

Ogie Diaz said that their job also is to stop the bullets aimed at their talents. “And worse—kasama na sa trabaho ng manager ang maging demonyo, manatili lang anghel sa mata ng publiko ang kanilang talent,” he said.
