Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Batanes, March 14, 2023

EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Batanes today, Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Batanes. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.0.

The earthquake that struck Batanes, today, Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 05:53 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island in Itbayat.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Batanes was located at 20.73°North, 121.51°East – 035 km South 80° West of Itbayat with a depth of focus of 070 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity as well as instrumental intensities were listed by the quake-recoding bureau.
