Several employees of a popular mall have been fired for failing to submit a pregnancy test, sparking outrage among workers and netizens alike. According to reports, the mall management required female employees to submit a pregnancy test as part of their requirements.
Three female employees of Unicity Mall in Roxas, Palawan, asked help last week after being sacked for failing to submit pregnancy tests. According to reports, four mall employees were fired.
Melania Rapatan, the terminated employee, expressed her dissatisfaction after the corporation granted several staff extensions. However, the company allegedly failed to offer her and her colleagues an opportunity to meet the requirements.
Employees express their disappointment at having spent a particular amount of money to process requirements just to be fired over pregnancy testing. The workers demand a refund for the money they spent for requirements.
“Yun po sir wala na tanggal na po kami, terminate na kami kasi yun po yung mismong utos ni manager na not allowed na daw sa Unicity kaya hindi na po kami pumasok,” Rapatan said.
Jennylyn, Unicity Roxas, Palawan HR, eventually met with the displaced workers and employed them again.
