Fondly called by his family and friends “Matt-Matt”, he is already a member of the said fraternity’s Zamboanga chapter. Thus, her elder brother who is also a member of the said group did not worry when he informed him that he will be attending the welcoming rites.
The welcoming rites was held in a residence in Biñan, Laguna. However, since then, Matt-Matt was not able to go home. He was missing for more than a week before his lifeless body was found buried in a shallow grave in Cavite.

Amid the investigation of the Salilig case, the alleged group chat messages of the frat members were submitted to the NBI for investigation. According to the report, in the said conversation, the members were talking about the condition of one member although Matt-Matt was not named.
There were several messsages asking about the skin color of the said member. One of them also chatted that the said member could not go up when they went to the house of one fratman. One of them suggested the other members to awaken the said member by biting his fingers. There are also suggestions to bring him to the hospital. The members were also instructed to avoid the CCTVs in the said house.
Based on the report, the alleged group chat messages of the frat members which was submitted for the Salilig case investigation showed that it was around 9:37 when a member informed the others that one of the members died.
The chat members panicked and the next messages suggest that the said member did not recover and he was wrapped in a bed sheet and they agreed to dispose him. There was also an order to replace the car number of the vehicle that they will use in dropping his body.
At around 8:00 a.m. the following morning, members of the alleged group chat started leaving the conversation. The group chat was eventually deleted. Investigations are currently ongoing.
