Liza Soberano had this statement years ago that resurfaced due to what her new manager said just recently
Actress Liza Soberano clarified in 2016 the rumors that she was asked to audition for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming movie female lead role and this was recalled because of the statement of Careless CEO Jeffrey Oh about the said stint.
In a recent event, Jeffrey claimed that Liza received an invitation to audition for the role of MJ in the said superhero movie. The role was played by Zendaya.
The Careless CEO, who is part of Liza’s management team, claimed that the Fil-Am actress was not able to try auditioning because her contract with her former home network ABS-CBN did not allow her to do so.
Jeffrey stressed that this is one of the factors that hinder Filipino artists to explore global opportunities because they are being tied by their contract with a certain home network.
It was in June 2016 when rumors surfaced that Liza had the chance to be in a Marvel movie. However, in that same month and year, the actress made clarifications.
Following Jeffrey’s claim, the Instagram fan page Kapamilya Online World shared an art card quoting the 2016 statement by Liza Soberano about the supposed Spider-Man audition offer.
“It’s not really an invitation. I think it was what the fans wanted lang, fans of Marvel. I think one of them is Pinay and parang she tweeted that, parang kung merong magiging Mary Jane Watson, she would want it to be me. All my fans started retweeting it and everything but wala naman po talagang invitation,” the actress said.
On the other hand, Liza Soberano said at that time that if ever there is an offer or invitation, then it would be a nice opportunity.
Once again, Liza Soberano and her new management received negative reactions from netizens due to this latest claim which contradicted what she said years ago.
