BONGBONG MARCOS – The 65-year-old President believes that the death of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo is “purely political”.

The deaths of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and several civilians left countless hearts broken and crying for justice. The Governor was attacked at his residence in Pamplona last Saturday.

According to Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo, his wife, the Governor was working on a Saturday when the attack happened inside their compound. She stressed that her husband does not deserve that kind of death.

Gov. Roel Degamo previously expressed that there are threats in his life. It was just recently when the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to transfer the votes obtained by Ruel Degamo to Roel Degamo leading to his victory in the elections.

Mayor Janice Degamo called on the national government for justice over the death of the Negros Oriental Governor. The Vice Governor of the province has sworn in to duty following Degamo’s untimely death.

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos who was quick to release a statement on the death of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamy, his ally, expressed his belief that the case is “purely political”.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Chief Executive admitted that she could not believe that such incident would still happen citing that it took place at the victim’s residence.

“It was shocking. I could not believe that this would still happen. Pinasok ba naman yung sarili niyang bahay. When you see the video, talagang lahat ng haharap sa kanila, babarilin nila,” he said.

Pres Bongbong Marcos stressed that some of those who died were not involved in the issue. The Chief Executive stressed that it is not allowed in the society and the case is “purely political”. Following the incident, he ordered the dismantling of private armies and the identification of the hotspots were local officials are attacked.
