John Matthew Salilig’s Father on Death of his Son: “Inhumane”

John Matthew Salilig’s father, Jeofrey Salilig, broke his silence on the painful death of his son allegedly in the hands of his fellow fraternity members.

A lot of people were alarmed after another student fell victim to alleged extreme activities conducted in a fraternity group as a pact of their brotherhood. John Matthew Salilig, a 3rd year chemical engineering studeng of Adamson University, was found dead a week after he was reported missing.

John Matthew attended a “welcoming rites” in Biñan, Laguna as per the testimony of one of the frat members to the authorities. According to the unidentified persona, John Matthew survived the process but he had a seizure and he died on their way back to Manila.

The body of John Matthew Salilig was found in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite. It was identified by his older brother, John Martin Salilig, who went emotional and visibly angry upon seeing the body of his sibling.

Recently, John Matthew Salilig’s father, Jeofry Salilig, broke his silence on the painful death of his son allegedly in the hands of his fellow members in Tau Gamma Phi fraternity. Based on a report on GMA News, he stressed that what was done to his son was “inhumane”.

“Hindi makatao ang ginawa ng grupo na ‘to. I would say inhumane,” the grieving father said.

Based on the report, John Matthew Salilig’s father further expressed that he was really hurt by the “inhumane” actions to his son upon seeing the photo of the grave where his body was left. Two (2) of the siblings of the victim are also part of the said fraternity group and he even informed his brother, John Michael, that he will be attending the “welcoming rites”.
