Police Authorities Arrest Single Dad For Beating Daughter’s Boyfriend

A single dad has been arrested by Carcar City Police after beating the boyfriend of his daughter outside the Bowlud Coffee in Sitio Campo.

Last Friday afternoon on February 24, 2023, a father who is raising his child alone was taken into police custody after physically attacking his daughter’s boyfriend.

The victim identified as alias Aljur, a 16-year-old high school student at Carcar Central National High School, was assaulted outside the Bowlud Coffee in Sitio Campo, Barangay Guadalupe, Carcar City at approximately 5 pm. Aljur remains in the hospital for further medical treatment.

On Monday (February 27, 2023), the Carcar City Police Station accused the suspect of violating Republic Act 7610, which is connected to child abuse law.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ardioleto Cabagnot, chief of the Carcar City Police Station, the suspect hit Aljur in the head with a flower vase and repeatedly punched him, despite the efforts of spectators and his daughter to intervene.

Officers on patrol witnessed the altercation and intervened after learning that the victim was a minor with a head injury. The suspect allegedly grew aggressive because he was overprotective of his daughter and did not want her to be involved in a romantic relationship yet, according to Cabagnot.

After her mother left them to marry a Japanese national, he advised her about prioritizing her studies and having a successful future. Notwithstanding her father’s warning, the daughter continued to have secret meetings with Aljur.

However, someone had informed the suspect of their whereabouts, leading to the violent encounter.

“To keep his daughter away from Aljur, the father transferred her to another school. However, that didn’t end the relationship,” Cabagnot said.
