In a new interview, Rabiya Mateo made some revelations about her past relationship.
RABIYA MATEO – Last 2021, Rabiya Mateo and her boyfriend Neil Salvacion broke up and this was the reason that led to their split.
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo was once in a relationship with Neil Salvacion, a non-showbiz personality. He was her long-time boyfriend when she won the crown, however, shortly after winning, they got separated.
They got separated and it was just recently that Rabiya finally shed light on the reason why it happened. In an interview with Boy Abunda, she revealed that he has actually proposed to her before. Instead of creating something even more beautiful after the proposal, it only led to their split.
According to her, at that time, she wasn’t ready for anything as serious as such a commitment yet. She has a lot on her plate and winning the pageant served as a window for her to give her family a better life. She is her family’s breadwinner and she can’t just leave them that way because of marriage.
The split did not happen immediately. It gradually happened. Apart from being not ready to get married, she also could not find in herself to give her all for that relationship at that time. Until it ended.
She is currently in a relationship with Jeric Gonzales and in the same interview, she revealed that after everything, she remained friends with her ex-boyfriend. They were able to iron out their issues and built a friendship.
However, she has boundaries as this type of thing is kind of a big deal with Jeric.
