Two PWDs in Pasig City goes viral and earns various reactions online after they shared pairs of shoes together.

Juanito Maray, 56, and Christopher Romero, 47, both from Pasig City, shared pairs of shoes they bought. Maray lost his right foot while Romero lost his left, so they thought there was no waste in sharing and they were able to save money.

Maray shared that they are both presidents of persons with disabilities (PWD) organization called ‘AKKAP’ in their respective barangays. This is how they met in a city-wide organization called ‘AKKAPP PWD PASIG’.

Juanito came up with the idea to invite Romero to buy shoes when he saw a sale in a new shoe store in their area.

The two coincidentally met on January 24 during a food pack distribution for PWDs, and Romero immediately agreed to the plan. They scheduled the day of their purchase and were happy to have been able to buy three pairs of shoes for ₱1,000.

“Sinabi ko sa kaniya kasi po kaliwang paa ko ang may sapatos tapos siya kanang paa naman. Magkasukat [din] kami ng paa. Kaya sabi ko ‘Pres., bili tayong sapatos, 3 for 1k. Hati tayo, tig-500 tayo para ‘di sayang ‘yung kabilang sapatos’,” Maray said.

Maray was fortunate to have met Romero because he stopped buying shoes after losing his right foot in 2005 due to an infection. He didn’t want to waste the unused right shoe.

He gave Romero his unused right shoes and sandals that were given to him by his family and relatives so that there would be no waste and both of them are happy.
