A heartwarming wedding proposal by a couple from Mati City, Davao Oriental is making rounds on social media. The now-viral video captured the special moment when Cris Jaybee Bangahon proposed to his girlfriend, Amely Grace Asoque, and asked her to be his wife.
The proposal took place during a party on February 11, 2023, just a few days before Valentine’s Day. As Asoque was enjoying the festivities and participating in parlor games, Bangahon approached her with a banner and a ring.
He got down on one knee and popped the question, asking her to spend the rest of her life with him. Asoque was surprised and overjoyed, and her heart started beating faster as she realized what was happening.
“I didn’t even notice that I was also on my knees the entire time,” Asoque said.
The couple had been together for three years, having first met each other in high school. According to Asoque, Bangahon had tried to court her in 2014, but she had turned him down. It wasn’t until 2019, when they were both single, that Bangahon decided to take another chance and pursue her.
The 27-year-old engineer said that his friends helped him pull off the proposal.“My friends already knew that I will propose to her but they’re not certain as to when, maong some of them were blind and surprised sa panghitabo,” he said.
